Ingrid Pabinger, M.D., ISTH Council Chair, explained the importance of ISTH membership and becoming part of the ISTH family. This year’s Congress, which started with SSC on Saturday, is buzzing with excitement with so many colleagues in attendance, demonstrating the broad interest in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis as well as interest in the educational programs and research being presented here this week.
She also described many new advantages and programs ISTH is offering, including their new open access journal Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis (RPTH), which in just a few short months since its inception has over 100 submitted articles. ISTH has also established an early career professional task force (ECTF) to serve young professionals in the field and provide a forum in which they may interact with their peers. Finally, ISTH has created programs targeting the developing world, including specific educational programs and grants for these countries.
