The most common long-term complication for children with deep vein thrombosis is post-thrombotic syndrome. In this presentation, Marisol Betensky, M.D., M.P.H., discusses the findings from the Kids-DOTT trial and biobank. The presentation discusses the association between patient characteristics, plasma coagulability and/or impaired plasma fibrinolysis during the first three months after DVT diagnosis with the development of PTS in children with provoked DVT. Results of 399 patients will be discussed, leading to the identification of novel prognostic factors for the development of post-thrombotic syndrome in patients <21 years old with provoked DVT.
